Allwin did his PhD in the lab of Dr Vinesh Vijayan at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Thiruvananthapuram, after which he joined Prof. Carlomagno’s group for his postdoctoral studies. His main research focus is to understand — primarily using NMR — the sequence–(dis)order–function paradigm of biomolecules. During his PhD, he studied the sequence-dependent properties of the microtubule-associated protein Tau, and is currently investigating the structural properties of RNAs.
For an organism who thrives in temperatures above 30°C, he is needing to adapt in order to survive the cold weather of Birmingham, and seeks Old Joe’s help in traversing the city.
